Arjuna Bark Tea (Arjun chaal chai)

Arjuna- the name is associated with the Hindu mythology. As Arjuna who was the protector, and strength of his family in the most famous battle Mahabharata, so is this arjun tree. It protects the heart. This herbal concoction tea is made from Arjun chaal as one of its main ingredients.

Arjuna chaal

I personally believe that the human mind wanders a lot and hesitates to follow blindly a recipe unless backed by some scientific reasons. Hence, the facts:

  • Great for cardiovascular health.
  • Rich in antioxidants.
  • Controls blood sugar.
  • It has anti-cancer properties.
  • It has anti-asthmatic properties.
  • Boosts endurance
The lists go on and on.

For making this flavored tea ingredients required:

(Servings 2)

  • 1 glass of water
  • 1 glass of milk
  • 1/4 ginger
  • 1-2 cardamom pods
  • 1-2 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon of Arjuna bark powder

Preparation

Firstly, I boil the water for 1 min (low flame) and in it, I put the ginger(crushed), cardamom(crushed), cloves, and the arjuna powder. I leave it for 4-5 min so that the masala gets infused in the water and leaves its aroma.

Then I pour the milk and again leave it undisturbed until the whole ingredients get infused. This process might take another 2-3 min.  (The time requirement might go here and there as per the need i.e. until the color changes to brownish).

I finish it off by adding small mishri cubes or powdered jaggery after the tea is filtered out, but it can also be added while making the tea. (sweetness as per taste)

And now it is ready to be taken.

My father has high cholesterol and triglycerides. So, I started making this tea for my father who hesitated to have this powder with plain water early in the morning. The powder tastes bitter.  Hence, I discovered this recipe and found it helpful as well as easy to make.

Hence,
